Time is already flying by so lets make this year one to remember. This year focus on your success and happiness which comes in different forms for all of us. I know a lot of us get sucked in by the material world we live in and we often mistake a moment of joy for true happiness. This year focus on being truly happy, the feeling you get when you laugh or smile and you feel it in the pit of your stomach. Obviously its not gonna be there all the time but its your job to maintain that. True happiness comes in the simplest ways, try to help others and see how it makes you feel. I believe the purest form of happiness comes from being selfless. when we’re not trying to please ourselves we inadvertently do and that’s when you feel a different kind of happiness and more importantly a purpose, the two are intertwined. When we feel we don’t have a purpose we feel depressed and begin to wonder why we are here.
“I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be “happy.” I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter and to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all. “
– Leo C. Rosten
Make sure you look back on this year and KNOW that you made a difference! Many of you know moany people annoy me, if you’re gonna moan to me it better be about something worthwhile. We all have things about our lives that we don’t like but if you keep talking about them, if you keep focussing on them how are you going to invite the things you want into your life. Its ok to ask for help and advice to someone but make sure you take it and don’t keep going on about the same sad thing because you are the one keeping that negativity in your life, YOU have made it a prevalent force. Instead focus on what you do have, be grateful every day for what God has given you. I remember when I went backpacking in Thailand and we stayed in villages with people who didn’t even have electricity, clean water or any kind of luxuries but laughter rung through there village. I remember sitting with my dad and saying to him look how happy all these people are, every single one is smiling. He told me about his similar upbringing in a small village and explained that when you don’t have anything you make the most of what you’ve got and you are grateful for it. Stop focussing on what you don’t have and what you need and instead focus on all the amazing things you do have, you’ll realise you don’t need much at all to be happy.
“Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside. No matter what is going on outside of us, there’s always something we could be grateful for.”
– Barry Neil Kaufman
I’m not trying to tell you to settle with what you’ve got because I’m a big beleiver in striving to be the best that you can be, I’m just reminding you to accept and celebrate what you already have and build on that. I know so many people like myself who are struggling to find the job they want and believe me I know its difficult but we can’t blame employers for not having enough jobs because then you’d just believe that and stop trying. How about all those people that did find there dream job while we were sitting around moaning. be proactive! If you give up, you are gonna suffer the consequences alone. Positivity attracts positivity, if you are looking for something knowing your gonna find it, you will, If you have doubts you won’t!
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” – Henry Ford
In other words, whatever you believe is what you will attract. Keep your eyes set on what you want and work towards it. Don’t be afraid to fail because that can also hold you back, just know whatever you want to do, you can do it and it it goes wrong you are equipped to deal with it. Always remember life is a test, we are only given what we can handle!
“Unless you’re willing to have a go, fail miserably, and have another go, success won’t happen.”
