I tried the new Medina Candle Massage available at the Al Barsha brsnch of Tips & Toes. I have only ever been to their smaller branches and was surprised that they have such a huge one in Barsha which includes a nail studio, hair and waxing salon as well as a spa!
The spa was beautiful, it was candle lit and had a lovely relaxation area for before and after treatments. The therapist came to explain what the treatment entails and find out what pressure massage I wanted.
The candle was lit which would be used for the treatment. It was made with shea butter and oudh and smelt delicious. As the candle burned the butter melted which she poured and massaged into my skin. It was not hot like a normal candle, just warm and the oudh aroma was beautiful.
The massage was really relaxing and included the back, legs and feet and the cost is 266 AED including tax. I would definitely recommend it and would go back, it was a really luxurious treatment and I felt like a goddess being bathed in oudh oil 😜
This serene new treatment aims to relax the mind & body with the use of warm candle oils for the ultimate aromatherapy experience and is available only at the Barsha branch of Tips & Toes.
The change of season really brings a change in my skin and therefore I switch up my skincare regime for the Summer to aspire to get that perfect Summer Glow and I wanted to share my Summer Skincare Essentials with you!
My skin gets more oilier and also more dehydrated – yes, that is possible! Don’t think that because your skin is oily it has enough water, in fact when your skin is dehydrated, often you will produce MORE oil to compensate for the dryness so essential number 1 is a good moisturiser!
Dr Jart + Water Fuse Moisturiser
I am a huge fan of Gel Moisturisers as I have quite oily skin, they are light and absorb well into my skin while letting it breathe. Dr Jart’s Water Fuse line is amazing for quenching the thirst of your skin. Here is a video on how Dr Jart’s Water Fuse line works:
I do love this product but I found Sephora’s Instant Water Moisture Gel to be a great dupe. GLAMGLOW’s Hydrated Water Burst Moisturiser is another good option. The innovative sea blue formula bursts into thirst quenching water droplets upon contact before fully absorbing into the skin for a glow you can see and feelI would not get through the Summer without one of these moisturisers!
Clinique Pep Start
I am on my 3rd Tube of this hydrating goodness. The skin around your eyes is the most sensitive, its thinner and therefore ages first and shows the first signs of dehydration and aging. A little massage of this product every morning will have your undereyes looking fresh!
Basking and Masking
I believe in Basking and Masking! If your gonna sunbathe, make sure you get that extra hydration in. I also love a good exfoliating mask before I sunbathe to keep the tan on my face nice and even. I love Sephora’s range of masks, the eye and lip ones are great for packing in that extra hydration where it is most needed. I use these while doing an all over face mask, my favourite this summer is GLAMGLOW’s Gravity Mud which is a Silver Peel Off Mask. It gets rid of all my extra oil while removing all my dead skin cells so the surface of my skin is nice and smooth. I find it very gentle and use it twice a week.
Keep those hands nice and soft with a super moisturising hand cream or balm. I love L’occitane’s almond range, I travel with all of it! The Oil is so versatile and the hand balm is super nourishing and smells divine! Sephoras Almond hand balm is also super nourishing for a smaller budger.
Casper and Gambinis is situated downtown by South Ridge park and boasts amazing views of the Burj Khalifa. If only our Summer wasn’t so scorching hot it would have been ideal to sit outside however the interiors are lovely too!
I assumed from the name that Casper and Gambinis was Italian but this Lebanese owned chain boasts an international menu. They serve burgers, sushi, pizza, pasta, grilled food and even a few indian inspired dishes.
We ordered the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad, Heritage Goat Cheese Salad, Smoked Salmon and Truffle Burgers to start. The Asian Sesame Chicken salad was my favourite, this dish is laced with layers of flavour and topped with wanton crisps and peanuts for an extra crunch. It was sweet, spicy, tangy and had a wonderful depth of flavour. The Smoked Salmon was average but the Goats Cheese Salad was delicious too and one I would definitely order again. Unfortunately the Truffle Burgers were a fail for me, I could not taste the truffle, the patty was dry and the diced mushrooms didn’t work for me.
Unfortunately the house specials such as the Filet Steak and Caspers Chicken Escalope were not available as they only serve a limited quantity for iftar which was disappinting. Its probably wise to call ahead and order before going to try these. We had the Penne Arabiatta, Prime Angus Steak and Chicken Under A Brick. The Chicken Under a brick was my favourite main, tender, succulent and full of flavour, it was a nicely composed dish. The others were just ok and I wouldnt order them again.
For dessert we tried the Date and Caramel Pudding and the Pain Perdu. Both were yummy! The Pain Perdu had lots of flavour, the cinnamon and cream combo was yummy. The date pudding was sweet and sticky and it could have done with a tad more sauce to make it gooey in the middle but the flavour was perfect.
Casper and Gambinis
All in all it was a good meal and the salads were definitely worth going back for!
