Last night I had the chance to review Eshak Restaurant which is located in City Walk 2. I expected it to be Arabic grilled food but I was surprised when I learned the menu was a fusion of Uzbek, Georgian and Middle Eastern Food with many freshly baked items.
The interior of Eshak was mystical with a combination of gold and dark hues of purple with paintings that looked like warrior princesses from another realm. The restaurant is quite long and has a huge bar and kitchen area. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside to enjoy the breezy night air. I noticed a row of baskets full of fruit and curiosity got the best of me so I went to take a look. I realized it was a market, the hostess explained that the fruits and vegetables were from all over the world and as she said it I feasted my eyes on the bright pink dragon fruit. They get new fruit every few days and it was a lovely idea.
After reading the menu I felt quite excited as there were many dishes I had never tried before! In fact I had never had Uzbeki or Georgian cuisine so I was excited for the culinary experience. They brought out hoummos, tabbouleh, muhammara (chilli paste, walnuts, breadcrumbs and olive oil blended into a paste), warak enab bil zet (stuffed vine leaves) and baklajan rolls (rolled eggplant stuffed with cream cheese, tomatoes and pesto).
I loved the muhammara which I had never had before, the nuts gave it a sweetness and the spice from the chilli added a kick. I could not stop dipping my fresh tandoor bread in there which was hot from the oven! I also loved the baklajan rolls, they were bursting with flavour and unlike anything I had tried before yet so simple. You could taste how fresh all the ingredients were, everything was fragrant, vibrant and tasty. Vine leaves never impress me, they are cold and a weird texture…not for me!
The waiter brought out Megrel Khachapuri which is a Georgian puff pastry with cheese. It was steaming hot out of the oven and was like a pizza on puff pastry, it was gooey and delicious! Definitely one to order again. A Chicken Kutab arrived which was a crepe with a chicken filling served with tahini, it was also very good! Then came my dish of the day, the lamb pilaf. It is a traditional dish from Uzbekistan but one bite in and I could taste my grandmothers cooking. It was a spiced fragrant rice embellished with pieces of slow cooked lamb. This was a cheat day that I did not feel bad about, every bite of that rice was worth and I would go back to eat it again!
I was not overly keen on the dessert which was 3 pieces of cream cheese swimming in a berry jam but once I tried it I was converted. I expected it to be sharp and tart but it was sweet and tasted like cheesecake topping and the cheese cut through the sugar giving it a lovely balance.
While flicking through the menu I spotted some incredible breakfast options so I will be going back for those too!! If you are looking for some simple but hearty food then Eshak is the place for you!

Coppa Club by Tower Bridge has 8 beautiful pop-up Igloos outside their restaurant along the Thames which are super cosy on a cold Winter night.
London is always an exciting city, I am not just being biased because its home but I really think you are spoilt for choice. Not only is there so much to do, but then you have exclusive pop-ups that appear for a short time.
A friend mentioned the Igloo’s but said they are fully booked and sure enough if you go to the website they state that they are no longer taking bookings. They do however save a few walk-in slots and our party of 7 got lucky as a group cancelled so we got an igloo all to ourselves.
The igloo’s are really cosy inside with sheepskin blankets and warm lighting. You get gorgeous river-side views of the shard you are sheltered from the wind and get heaters inside to make it extra cosy. Their is also a speaker so you can listen to music while sipping on a cocktail.
I had a great time, I know they are closing soon but I can’t seem to find dates anywhere for how long they are there till. If you are in the area, they are definitely worth checking out. You get a 2 hour limit although they are so comfy you won’t wanna leave!
Sahara Grill opened its first branch in the UAE earlier this year. The steak house is famed for serving the first halal steak in the UK. They opened three branches there which initially had a wait time of an hour for a table. They pair expert chefs with grade A quality cuts of meat. What more could a meat lover want?
The Sahara Grill is located directly opposite the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in The Mall. The balcony seating offers stunning views of the hotel and also of the Burj Al Arab. The modern decor is simple and classy, it has a very inviting environment.
For starters we had the Sahara prawns and buffalo wings, both were good choices. The prawns were golden brown and crunchy, they were doused in the delicious signature sauce. The chicken wings were also good, succulent and tangy with a little kick. We also had a Greek salad which was good, a nice refreshing accompaniment.
For mains we went with the signature Sahara Lamb Chops, the lamb is from New Zealand and they were rubbed in Sahara’s secret spice mix. If you like spicy food, you will love them! They come served on a sizzling platter with grilled onions. We also had a Rib-Eye steak also seasoned with the same spice mix. It was really tasty and the meat was tender and marinated through. The steak was not as spicy as the chops, we tried all of the sauces and they were all yummy. The Sahara picante is tangy and spicy and the pepper sauce was great with the steak.
We were stuffed but decided to share a dessert, we had the plain cheesecake flown in from Italy and it really was divine.
I will certainly be going back, I think I would order exactly the same again, I couldn’t fault it! The prices are also very reasonable, the chops are just 69 AED and the steak was 149 AED. If you are a meat lover and have not yet been to Sahara Grill at The Mall, check it out!
I had been hearing lots about Mr Toad’s Pub and Kitchen but had not yet been. They just opened four branches in Dubai; DIP, Ibn Batuta, Garhoud and Silicon Oasis all at the Premier Inn.
Mr Toads is exactly what was needed in Dubai, I find that there are so many pubs here that are just too old fashioned or overpriced. There needed to be one that was traditional while being modern and affordable… well it has finally arrived!
Mr Toad’s pub and Kitchen has a traditional menu of good old pub grub. They have lovely simple but inviting decor and a lively atmosphere. It’s a very chilled pub, not pretentious at all and reminds you of your local at home.
I went to try Mr Toad’s pub and kitchen’s festive treats! The selection is small but curated well. I am not usually a Turkey fan however after trying theirs I have become a Turkey lover! I have never liked it because its usually dry and pretty bland but this was well seasoned and juicy. The accompaniments were also delicious -apricot and sage stuffing, chicks in blankets, honey glazed root veggies and a delicious gravy. I also loved the Barley Risotto, its so deliciously creamy and quite rich so probably best to share it. For a sweet ending try the Black Cherry Creme Brulee!
The Festive menu is priced between 35-95dhs, very affordable and great ambience. Try to go on one of their quiz nights on Wednesday for even more fun. They have themed nights almost every day of the week, they do a ladies night on Tuesday where ladies receive a free main course when they purchase a drink. Monday’s are pretty much happy hour all day with free wine and 50% off all food!
Dusty’s Dubai has recently launched its Dusty’s Lazy Saturday Brunch. If your looking for a super chilled brunch with live music and a delicious a la carte menu then Dusty’s is what you need. Most brunches in Dubai are from a buffet and a bit too messy with the focus being on drinks rather then good food but Dusty’s lazy Saturday Brunch is a really nice one to end your weekend. You don’t have to stand in queues to get your food, you can just enjoy the entertainment while it is brought to your table.
Dusty’s Lazy Saturday Brunch is family friendly with a dedicated kids area. The best part is that kids eat free! The live musicians are amazing and they perform around your tables while you dine. The location is beautiful, a little piece of tranquillity in the heart of DIFC. As you sit on the wooden decking you are surrounded by pretty water features. There is no dress code, in fact the waiters are all in their pyjamas so you can dress comfortably with no judgement.
The menu has a good range of options. I love the lobster taco’s, the crispy taco shell is filled with fresh lobster, mango, avocado and coriander and served with fresh guacamole. The Rib-eye steak is delicious for mains as is the creamy mushroom pasta. You must try the truffle fries with parmesan, they are to die for! The dessert candy station is amazing and has a huge choice of ice creams, brownie lollipops, fondue with fruit and marshmallows and plenty of other little treats. The french toast is amazing, crispy, sweet and delicious, I would definitely get it again.
The brunch costs 299AED and is well worth it, I cannot fault the food, it was delicious! My only tip would be to have a snack before-hand as we showed up ravenous and the service can be a little slow.

After 12 long years…my search is finally over for the best roast dinner in Dubai! I have searched high and low and far and wide. I have eaten a lot of cardboard-like Yorkshire puddings, a lot of under-seasoned meat and too many soggy vegetables. There was not one single roast that I could recommend other then carvery stands at brunches. Where can people go when they just want a quiet roast at the weekend?
The Scene is delightfully located along the Marina at Pier 7, the views are to die for and the decor and ambience is lovely. They were playing amazing old Christmas tunes while I was digging into the best roast dinner in Dubai. Seriously it felt like Christmas! You have a choice of chicken, lamb, beef or a veggie option for the roast. I opted for lamb which was probably the best food choice I have made in a while.
The Best Roast Dinner in Dubai
It was cooked so well, the lamb just melted in your mouth and the salty gravy paired with the sweet mint sauce was everything I wanted and more. It tasted exactly like my mums roast dinner!! I know she will hate me for saying that but I now have a solution for when I miss her food. The Yorkshire pudding was crunchy with a medium soft centre, exactly how it should be, I am so over the soggy bottoms that I have been subjected to lately.
The veggies were cooked perfectly, soft with a slight crunch. There was some yummy gooey cheese covered veggies and I have a new found love for red cabbage! I left the sweet potato mash, it wasn’t bad but I just found it too sweet with the saltiness of the dish and I had my dose of delicious gooeyness. The cabbage and mint were a beautifully balanced level of sweetness for me and perfect accompaniments. The Roast Potatoes were good too but if I had to pick a fault it would be that they didn’t have enough of a crunch and the middles were a little too firm, I like them a little more cooked and fluffy. I literally should not complain though because I would eat that Roast every weekend if I could!
Before I ate it I felt it was a little on the steep side for a Roast Dinner at 120 AED however after eating it I happily paid that and will definitely be going back to have it again! You can’t put a price on food that tastes like your mums. Paired with the views and service it was well worth it. I am often in Pier 7 but that was my first time at The Scene and I will definitely be going back there to try more of their food. Hit me up with your recommendations!

Since its opening 2 weeks ago, I have already been to Fish Beach Taverna twice, and I am pretty sure you will find me there often. In Dubai its difficult to get excited about things because we are so used to hearing “the tallest building in the world just opened down the road!”, “The biggest shopping mall in the world is almost ready!”, “Have you stayed in an underwater hotel room?”. We are pretty difficult to wow but Fish Beach Taverna wowed me!
The setting is what makes it so beautiful, you feel like you have escaped to a Greek island for the night. The blue and white decor is simple and tasteful and the lanterns, fairy-lights and candle lit tables on the beach add a touch of magic. There is no other beach restaurant in Dubai that makes the setting quite as paradisaical as Fish Beach Taverna. Whether its for a romantic date or a girly get together, the venue is faultless and it has that beach chic casual vibe unlike most beach restaurants here which are just pretentious.
The menu is inspired by Turkey, Fish Beach Taverna has a team of fishermen in Turkey and experienced Turkish Chefs who are dedicated to serving the freshest wild, cold water fish from the Aegean Sea, the Black Sea, and the Marmara Sea. You can taste how fresh it is and the simple but beautiful ingredients give it that taste of the Mediterranean. I enjoyed the homeliness of the place, the servers were so friendly and going for a sunset meal there is unrivalled.
Dishes range from 40 AED for appetisers, to 160 AED for mains which is pretty good value for the authentic food and beautiful beach-side dining experience. They are often fully booked weeks in advance, so make sure you call ahead of time to secure your seat. You can get their details here.

The W-Hotel has landed in Dubai and we went down to try the new seafood restaurant called Sea-Me. It is a buffet style restaurant with the biggest spread of seafood that I have ever seen! Oyster Bar, Lobsters on ice, Scallops galore and the most delectable seafood Paella!
We began at the oyster bar with ceviche which is all served on a conveyor belt so it keeps coming! There is a pink coloured ceviche which was to die for, it was marinated in passion fruit juice and the combination was incredible, flavours I had never imagined together but they were perfect
I did try an oyster and the salsa they drizzle on is tasty but I am just not an oyster person, I don’t like the texture. There are some beautiful canapes in the fridge which were all delicious but my favourite were the scallops and salmon with caviar.
For mains we went to the cold food bar which had lobster, crab and various prawns. The king prawns and lobster with apple chunks were my favourite. It was all extremely fresh and chilled in ice. Then we went over to the hot food and tried the Paella and Lobster rice, the Lobster rice reminded me of one of my grandmas dishes, it was so comforting and homely. At the live cooking station I tried the fresh scallops, red mullet and red snapper, the snapper was under-seasoned and the red mullet was over cooked but the scallops were cooked to perfection.
The desserts were divine! The choux pastry puffs with chocolate were my favourite, they were like an explosion of happiness in your mouth and the ice cream station is fun as you can add your own toppings. The rest of the desserts weren’t amazing but that probably had something to do with the fact that I was bursting at the seams.
The buffet is priced at 295 and drinks are billed separately, I would 100% go back, it is hands down the best selection of seafood I have ever seen in Dubai and well worth your money!
