Wishing you all a great weekend!
Dune previews are always highly anticipated for me, I don’t know whether that’s just the London girl in me but I think its because they always have really nice collections that are always conceptual and completely different to the last. This season had an apparent seventies influence with rounded saddle bags in rich chestnut and berry croc. The different shapes and textures were also reminiscent of the seventies. The deep auburn, navy and brown tones were suggestive of autumn and the beautiful nude hues played with the idea of bareness in an opulent season.
The collection has something for everyone, whether your a modern girl who loves colour blocking and in your face prints or a classic girl looking for a brushed saffiano leather tote. The beautiful velvet clutches embellished with brooches and feathers may speak to the flapper girl within, its a must see collection and you are likely to find a bag perfect for you.
The shoes very much mirror the bag trends, from casual ankle boots to embellished stilettos and mesh detailed pumps. A predominantly autumn palette however this collection spoke to the all-year-round open shoe wearing Dubai girl in me. There were wedges, platform stilettos and even clogs…I don’t think I could pull of the clogs but they would definitely look great on the right girl.
Plums and burgundies are my favourite autumn hues and I love my customised Zizzleblog croc bag, its small but has pockets for EVERYTHING and it comes in a variety of prints and textures, head to your nearest Dune store to find your perfect accessory!
You don’t have to overthink fashion, I think effortless fashion always looks the best. Try to buy key pieces for your wardrobe, things that are simple but have an elegant cut or detail that make them stand out. Often just the way something fits you can make it look like a designer piece. Here are some looks for inspiration:
On the 19th September I went to London Fashion Week at Somerset house. I love attending Fashion events and this was so last minute I didn’t really get time to get an outfit together so I woke up bright and early and began viewing my options. My mum had this beautiful red vintage coat probably from when she was my age but it still looked brand new! I decided that would be my statement piece and I think monochrome really makes red pop so thats what I went with. I even managed to match one of my nails to my dress haha and then just finished off with some nice chunky jewellery.
I arrived at 11am and was supposed to watch the PPQ runway show however they cancelled it which was annoying 😦 they gave me tickets to a “Trends Show” instead which was pretty good so I was back in good spirits. As it was the end of fashion week they put together a show of the most popular trends, Pretty In Pink, Back to Nature, Victorian and Mixing Prints. My favourite was the brown ombre textured jumpsuit, I want it!!
While watching the show, you could charge your phone under your seat! I love how they took all the bloggers and journalists into consideration, they even had phone charging stations all over the event which was sponsored by Vodafone.
Somerset house had been transformed into a 2 storey shoppers paradise, labels such as Vivienne Westwood, Gucci and Prada were available at up to 50% off and they had some beautiful boutiques. The jewellery was stunning and I loved some of the hat and accessory boutiques. Of course I had the best time in the shoe and bag department, I was lucky enough to bump into Mo Helmi while I was admiring his sparkly creations. He recently opened a concession in Dubai Mall’s Shoe District and he really has some amazing pieces.
I then headed for a haircut at the Toni ‘N’ Guy pop up salon for a cut and blowdry, I was really happy with it and amazed at how well they had created a salon in one of the rooms, it looked permanent (always a sign of a successful pop-up venture).
I got lots of goodies which you can read about in the beauty section so I’ll finish with my highlight which was the talk by a few members of the Elle Team, it was inspiring and uplifting and they were so young and had already worked at all the biggest fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harpers Bazaar! I got involved in the Q&A session and got to the bottom of a few things, mapping out my next route in life as I write lol. I absolutely loved Antonia O’Briens satin get-up, she was at the top of my best dressed list, it was unusual and simple and classy which are 3 ingredients for a great outfit.
I finished with a divine massage and chocolate bars in the Kinder Bueno lounge, definitely another highlight!
It was a great day out filled with things I love, you can read reviews of my new Maybelline makeup, Label M hair products and Beauty in treats on the beauty page!
MK has some stunning time-pieces in his latest collection. I love the way he incorporates different materials into each watch, the contrasts really make the designs stand out. The turtle shell looks beautiful with gold and the rose gold with white acrylic really stands out. I find gold watches a little too in your face sometimes so these contrasts break up the bling. These are priced between $200-$295 dollars, CLICK HERE to order yours!
Since its fashion week catwalk debut in 2012, The Mulberry Willow collection has grown and the new collection features my favourite one yet – THE EMERALD WILLOW! This leather beauty is all about its structure, simplicity and attention to detail. I love that this bag is a two in one as it features a clever zip-detached envelope clutch fulfilling two multi-wear functions in one style. You can wear the Tote during the day and detach the clutch for a night out. The structured Willow Tote features the signature Mulberry hardware; postman’s lock, zips and a padlock fob.
I love the details, range of colours and I love that its simple yet multi-functional, definitely my fave bag this season!!
