L’Oréal Pro Fiber Treatment Review

I began my trial of L’Oréal’s New Pro Fibre range one month ago and wanted to share the results with you. It is a range specially formulated to rescue dry and distressed hair.

When I got to the Belle Femme Salon the first thing they did was diagnose my hair to see which level of damage it was, 1 is the least damaged and 3 is the most. I was a 1 which pleasantly surprised me but because I have thick hair they said they would treat it with the green Restore range, designed for Stage 2 hair damage, it consists of Repairing Shampoo, and a Mask. It leaves hair that’s been subject to frequent styling, straightening or coloring much smoother, shinier and more supple for easier detangling.

How?

As the new generation of long-lasting hair care, Pro Fiber’s exceptional formulas combine unique active ingredients to penetrate hair, locking in repairing actives for visibly lasting results. After treatment, the fiber is renewed from root to tip, to look and feel as though it was always perfect, and hair tips appear freshly cut. Pro Fiber’s sophisticated hair care technology lies in the APTYL 100 molecular complex, an important scientific breakthrough that locks in molecules within the hair fiber.

Results:

I felt an immediate difference once they applied the treatment, if you see in the photo my hair is shiny and looks healthy after the treatment. It was really frizzy until she blow dried it, I did expect the frizz to reduce but it didn’t immediately however the hair felt softer and restored. 4 weeks on, I have been using the shampoo and hair mask twice a week and  the re-charge monodoses weekly. I feel my hair has definitely improved, it is more silky and less frizzy and I am pleased with the results. I still need to blow dry it as it is pretty wild so don’t expect a miracle, this isn’t a keratin or botox treatment but it has definitely restored my hair and made it feel significantly healthier and I definitely recommend it if you blow-dry and colour your hair as often as I do. My hair is really resilient and I find it always reacts well to L’Oréal Professionnel products and they feel gentle on the hair too, they did spend 15 years creating this formula after-all!

A new nail brand has crept into Sephora and it delivers  original colours and long wear with the legendary no compromise formula that will surpass all your expectations.

Formula X Delete All Five-finger Nail-polish Remover - AED 120I was blown away by the Delete All 5 Finger Nail Polish Remover. It has a five finger soak where you place a nail in each pocket and just pull them out after a few seconds, my nail polish disappeared after 2 dips (about 8 seconds) and I was gob smacked!  

Its great for travelling as its spill proof and in a small container making it easy to transport. I was pretty shocked to find it priced at AED 120, no matter how much I love it I can’t justify spending £20 on a nail polish remover…you know what to get me for my birthday now 🙂 

I had a polish change using Formula X nail polish a week ago today and only one has a chip that was actually self inflicted. X Formula is definitely a premium brand and the quality speaks for itself, I have actually never seen such results from nail products and I am looking forward to getting more acquainted with them in April when they will be exclusively available in Sephora!

The Mascara, Sephora

20160225_085213-1They don’t just call it “The Mascara” by coincidence, the developer of this product explained when you have this mascara you don’t need to look for “The One” anymore because it takes care of all your needs. The formula gives definition while lengthening and giving your lashes a lift. If that wasn’t enough it guarantees 106% volume and length after 10 coats, and 195% more after 30 coats.

I could see the difference in volume, I took a picture wearing the mascara on just one eye so that you can see the difference and how it literally lifts my lashes to my brow! I am not one for falsies so I am really particular about my mascaras and I have to say this one is definitely a leader. I was completely in love with Givenchy’s Noir Couture but this one is taking the lead only because it does everything Noir Couture does but with a much nicer texture and formula that doesn’t cement to your lashes. Its more gummy therefore doesn’t flake and easy to clean off.

How does it do it?

  1. Ridges present in the bristles of the brush allow to properly grip the eyelashes to yield buildable results and a volume that intensifies with each coat.
  2. Thanks to its formula enriched with carnauba wax, it coats the lashes while being flexible.
  3. An acacia gum-based formula that secures and improves the resistance of mascara.

KÉRASTASE RÉSISTANCE THÉRAPISTE

I have naturally wild, unruly, frizzy and dry hair and after all the hair-dyeing and blow drying that I subject it to…it is a hot mess. It is such a battle for me to try and find something to tame my hair and when I do, I wear it wild and proud because the frizz calms down and then I can get away with my untamed waves. My hair was always one of the things I hated about my appearance most, but it is finally growing on me …quite literally. I suppose all these big hair trends made me feel more comfortable and my friends are always telling me that people pay to have hair like mine so I have begun to realise that I am lucky. I think we need to do that more…to learn to love our imperfections and realise they are what make us unique.

So on the subject of nurturing my hair I decided to invest in the KÉRASTASE RÉSISTANCE THÉRAPISTE range. It is quite expensive but I have to say well worth it, if your hair sounds like mine then you should give it a shot. I  asked for samples first at my salon and the results were undeniable so I went back and bought it. This range is for very damaged, over-processed hair and the science within the formula literally restores your hair. It contains FIBRA KAP which is a powerful complex that compensates for missing KAPs (Keratin Associated Proteins) and it has a plant extract which revives hair after 10 years of near death. It is literally hair SOS and I swear my hair feels like it has been resuscitated. I can feel it getting shinier and healthier after every shampoo. I previously used Kerastase for years but my hair eventually became immune to it so I switched and this new formula is literally amazing. I will probably change after these bottle finish because I really believe that your hair gets used to a product and becomes resistant but I will 100% go back to it after mixing it up a little.

7th Heaven Facemasks

argan_oil_mud-yl-7argan-a1_1Montagne Jeunesse who make 7th heaven facemasks have been around for 30 years now! I used to use them when I was back in London so I was really excited when they finally began stocking them on these sandy shores.

I tried loads of different ones but my favourite was the Argan Oil Mud Mask. It was the one where I felt the most dramatic difference before and after and my skin was literally glowing. I also really liked a couple of the peel off masks, the Manuka Honey was great. I liked the black seaweed too but I felt it was a little too mild, I generally like quite potent masks which is probably why I enjoyed the mud mask because my skin was tingling as it dried.

All the products are cruelty free and packed with lots of natural goodness, I can honestly say the peel off masks are the best I have ever tried. I usually hate peel off masks because they always feel like the skin is ripping off your face but these peeled off nicely. I did use the entire sachet so it was a thick layer which helped. You should definitely give them a try and let me know which was your favourite!

Tweezerman’s Swarovski Edition Tweezers

With the festive season looming there is no greater time to add some glitz and glam to your make-up bag. Its always good to be equipped with these beauties, whether its to pluck that stray eye-brow hair or if you have long nails like me they can be really handy for grasping fiddly items…from nail gems to sim cards, my tweezers are multi-functional.

Beauty Tips:

  • Always tweeze one hair at a time in direction of hair growth. For expert brow shaping, use the broad side of the slant ad the tip of the higher side for precision work.
  • Clean only the tweezer tips with an alcohol-moistened pad after each use. Clean crystals by rubbing lightly with a clean, smooth cloth. Do not soak tweezer body in water/solution or heat-sterilize. As with any fine crystal, handle with care. When not in use, keep in case to avoid dulling or breaking by scratching against or dropping on hard surfaces.

Halloween Makeup Tutorial

11049636_10153262406291794_2508666838935105275_nThis took me about an hour…mostly because I was making it up as I went along! I started with the eyes, I just extended my eyes by drawing under them with a black eyeliner. Then I filled them in white using snazaroo facepaint, I also painted my lower lashes and used a white eyeliner pencil to colour my waterline.

Using a concealer brush I painted carefully around the eyes with a light blue and then the rest of my face in the same shade with a sponge. I took a darker blue to contour around my cheekbones, jawline and forehead (how I would usually contour with foundation) and blended it all with a sponge. Then I took a metallic white and went down the bridge of my nose, cheekbones, cupids bow and above my eyebrows to give more dimension.

I took a black eyeliner and filled my lips in and extended them outwards and finished with a tapered line and drew 3 lines downwards to look like stitches.

I covered my eyebrows with vaseline and pressed glitter on using a small flat eyeshadow brush. Then I sprayed my lips with Mac Fix + and using a stencil and silver eye-shadow patted stars on. I added lashes to the eyeliner I had drawn on and added another set of lashes to the top and finished with a liquid liner. I finished with a spritz of Mac Fix + all over to keep everything in place.
