These timeless classics are still as fresh as when they hit the shelves in 1983, Reebok’s classic leather is changing expectations for 2016. Reebok has also continued its collaboration with boundary-pushing artist Kendrick Lamar for the Kendrick Lamar x Classic Leather. Now available at the Reebok store in The Dubai Mall, priced AED 325.
Soul is a contemporary restaurant located in the Movenpick JBR which serves classic American dishes and is famed for its steaks. The decor style reminds me a lot of Tribeca, modern with classic touches, dining sections are separated by hanging chains and the walls are adorned with abstract bursts of art. We sat in the outside section so we could listen to the live Jazz singer, Al fresco dining by the pool with live music, what more could a girl ask for? Well maybe for the singer to be a little closer to us but it was actually nice to be able to talk and hear each other while she performed ambient background music.
We were served fresh warm bread with cute little packs of butter sealed with the tiniest clothes peg in the world. This was followed by a surprise canapé from the chef, it was an incredible braised lamb that just melted in your mouth. This was all building up to the most beautiful starters, they were so pretty, I spent longer taking pictures of them then eating them. The Grilled Asparagus with a Lobster croustillant, cecina ham, quail egg and hollandaise sauce tasted as good as it looked, the crab cakes were nice, I preferred the avocado to the red pepper beurre.
We ordered prime striploin steaks since steak was the speciality, unfortunately a little overcooked but still delicious especially with the sides. The meat was really fresh and well-seasoned, it had an incredible flavour. The parmesan truffle fries and sautéed root vegetables were delicious, in fact we loved all the sides, the creamy spinach and asparagus were also things I would order again. We were literally stuffed but they insisted we try dessert, the famous chocolate soufflé that takes half an hour to prepare and the salted caramel tiramisu was what we went for. OMG that tiramisu was amazing, I don’t why it’s called that because I don’t like Tiramisu and we almost didn’t order it but the waitress explained the caramel is a coffee substitute and it doesn’t have coffee in it. I would literally go back just for that because it was divine. The soufflé was also delicious and fluffy, like a HUGE chocolate cloud but it was really rich and definitely the kind of dessert you have if you are not eating anything else.
I would definitely recommend soul, the starters and desserts were my favourite courses and I loved the setting, decadent but it still had a very chilled out vibe.
This Spring/Summer 2015, Naturalizer has captured the seasons trends while incorporating their signature N5 comfort-system. Rather then spending your nights looking great but feeling terrible, you can now feel great too and happily dance the night away. Even the high heels deliver flexibility, lightness, balance, cushioning and breathability in every step.
We loved the new collection and even left with a pair of gorgeous strappy silver sandals we spotted on the catwalk (see them below). They had a fashion show which showcased the Zanzibar, Retro Spirit and Santa Cruise Casuals key trends collections. We loved the wedges, high heels and a few of the gladiator sandals were nice too! Naturalizer has a great range of accessories and shoes for women which are comfortable and affordable starting from 299Dhs. You can see some of our favourites above!
On the 19th September I went to London Fashion Week at Somerset house. I love attending Fashion events and this was so last minute I didn’t really get time to get an outfit together so I woke up bright and early and began viewing my options. My mum had this beautiful red vintage coat probably from when she was my age but it still looked brand new! I decided that would be my statement piece and I think monochrome really makes red pop so thats what I went with. I even managed to match one of my nails to my dress haha and then just finished off with some nice chunky jewellery.
I arrived at 11am and was supposed to watch the PPQ runway show however they cancelled it which was annoying 😦 they gave me tickets to a “Trends Show” instead which was pretty good so I was back in good spirits. As it was the end of fashion week they put together a show of the most popular trends, Pretty In Pink, Back to Nature, Victorian and Mixing Prints. My favourite was the brown ombre textured jumpsuit, I want it!!
While watching the show, you could charge your phone under your seat! I love how they took all the bloggers and journalists into consideration, they even had phone charging stations all over the event which was sponsored by Vodafone.
Somerset house had been transformed into a 2 storey shoppers paradise, labels such as Vivienne Westwood, Gucci and Prada were available at up to 50% off and they had some beautiful boutiques. The jewellery was stunning and I loved some of the hat and accessory boutiques. Of course I had the best time in the shoe and bag department, I was lucky enough to bump into Mo Helmi while I was admiring his sparkly creations. He recently opened a concession in Dubai Mall’s Shoe District and he really has some amazing pieces.
I then headed for a haircut at the Toni ‘N’ Guy pop up salon for a cut and blowdry, I was really happy with it and amazed at how well they had created a salon in one of the rooms, it looked permanent (always a sign of a successful pop-up venture).
I got lots of goodies which you can read about in the beauty section so I’ll finish with my highlight which was the talk by a few members of the Elle Team, it was inspiring and uplifting and they were so young and had already worked at all the biggest fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harpers Bazaar! I got involved in the Q&A session and got to the bottom of a few things, mapping out my next route in life as I write lol. I absolutely loved Antonia O’Briens satin get-up, she was at the top of my best dressed list, it was unusual and simple and classy which are 3 ingredients for a great outfit.
I finished with a divine massage and chocolate bars in the Kinder Bueno lounge, definitely another highlight!
It was a great day out filled with things I love, you can read reviews of my new Maybelline makeup, Label M hair products and Beauty in treats on the beauty page!
Having recently spotted Noon by Noors collection in Dubai Mall’s Harvey Nichols, I was excited to see what the girls had created for Spring 2014 and their collection was definitely a highlight of New York fashion week.
The show kicked off with some pretty strange colour combinations but as it went on they quickly redeemed themselves with bold colour-blocking on beautiful iridescent fabrics.
Floral and leaf prints inspired by Bahrain’s Tree of Life were the concept behind this elegant and sophisticated collection of dresses, jackets and skirts.
I particularly loved the first maxi that made an appearance, the delicate silk and movement had a beautiful jellyfish-like quality. I also loved the silver toned silk shirt combined with the purple leather skirt, they worked so well together, not just the colours but the way the harsh purple leathers presence made the silk look even more delicate. Another favourite was the flourescent orange combined with the midnight blue hotpants that were adorned with gorgeous silk flowers.
The star of the show was most definitely the final piece, a cropped white top with a maxi skirt embellished with white silk flowers that merged into black flowers with a crystal centre in an ombre style placement.
Zizzle was at the Colour Play Lipstick Launch and we had a great time playing with the palette. I tried the candy ombre look on my lips and loved that it left the scent of candy on my lips and also left them feeling moisturised with the Vitamin E and apricot kernel oil. The lipsticks are long lasting and full of enriching ingredients perfect for protecting your lips over summer. Although we tried a crazy look, the palette allows you to have pretty day looks too and the range of colours can be blended to acheive even more looks. Honestly… I could play with the palette for hours!
If you enjoy experimenting with makeup looks too, make sure you download Inglots amazing new Virtual Makeover app called Inglot to your iPad or iPhone. Its free and allows you to see how Inglot products would look on you.
