Once You Go Black…

I went to the Belle Femme salon in JBR, they have a very professional service and they use my favourite L’oreal products so I always feel confident putting my hair in their hands. The colourist Najat had a look at my hair and told me it would be almost impossible to lift it to the previous ash blonde and she did a colour test…after the bleach my hair had become weaker so we decided to just get it to a nice brown with some highlights.

Najat was amazing, a lot of colourists would just bleach it regardless of the condition and that is one of the things I love about Belle Femme! She took 6 hours to do my hair because she lightened it gradually 3 times. A lot of places just want clients in and out for a fast turnaround but she took the time to ensure she did my hair the best possible way. I was really happy with my hair and highly recommend Najat for a colour, Belle Femme have never disappointed me.

This years hair trends are a toned down version of last year, hair contouring with very natural highlights and gradual ombres with less of a contrast. L’oreals pro fibre treatment is great if your lightening your hair to strengthen it again and get it in good condition.

Summer Tips:

  • I try to put coconut oil in my hair once a week overnight.
  • Avoid ammonia in hair dye when colouring your hair, the new inoa colour from L’oreal is a great alternative.
  • I have a habit of washing my hair daily which is actually really bad for your hair because it strips it of natural oils, in summer I try to do it once every couple of days instead and use heat protecting spray.
  • When I’m going to the beach I leave my conditioner in, its great if you have naturally dry hair because when the salt gets in your hair you get beachy waves instead of a hot frizzy mess.

Kerastase Resistance Therapiste

Feel as though your hair is at the end of its tether? Are you forever doing hair masks but still find your hair dry and damaged? Are you seriously considering a Brazilian blow-dry? I think Zizzle has found the solution to your problems!

If you have any of the following symtoms your hair is SCREAMING for Kerastase Resistance Therapie

Symptom #1: When you’re shampooing, the hair feels shabby and lifeless, almost like it’s disintegrating between the fingers.

Symptom #2: Visually, the ends look “burnt.” There are split ends everywhere.

Symptom #3: The lengths are tangled and brittle when you run a comb through your hair. The hair looks and feels inert.

Symptom #4: The colour is less vibrant and appears muddy, washed out and lifeless

Resistance Therapiste is designed for very damaged to over-processed hair. It is for hair at the erosion level 3-4 – An overall impression of dryness. Not as soft as it once was, the color is less vibrant. The ends are damaged. The sensation has gone from “rough” to “hard.” Damaged, broken and brittle, the hair feels as if it is disintegrating and the ends appear burnt. It becomes washed out, faded, lifeless. The hair looks and feels inanimate. For the first time, L’Oreal Advanced Research has succeeded in very closely targeting damaged, over-processed hair to give it new life. A range rich with four new product references benefitting from upgraded effectiveness.

L’Oreal Mythic Oil Serum

mythic oil

I am forever looking for hair products to tame my mane, I have crazy in-between wavy and curly hair with crazy amounts of volume and in the summer plenty of frizz…not a good combination.  When I lived in Peru locals often called me “Cabello de leon” which means Lion hair so you can only imagine my loco hair. I tried the amazing Mythic Oil Serum from L’oreal and its really good, I tried it on wet hair and then tied it up to let it dry into curls hoping it would eliminate the frizz when it dried, and its pretty smooth! I added a little more when it was dry through the ends to give it some more texture and I’m really happy with the results.

Yesterday I used it after blow-drying my hair and it gave it a really nice shiny finish and gave definition to my waves. It has a 24-hour ability to smooth and protect hair from the effects of extreme heat, humidity and frizziness, L’Oréal Professionnel’s Mythic Oil Serum is great for the Middle East’s crazy heat. You can buy it in salons and the couture edition is priced at 130AED or 180AED for the regular edition.

The Jewel Edition bottle of Mythic Oil has a gorgeous, sparkling gift that captures the very essence of its sumptuous experience. I love the richness of the product and you only need a very small amount to get the desired effect! Speaking of effects I thought I would share this seasons looks from L’oreal. The 70’s brit pop shag layers cut is dominating runways as seen on British model Eddie Campbell. The beauty is in its versatility giving you the option to wear it fluffy, messy or tousled.

Red is the key colour trend to pair with the cut, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Vanessa Hudgens have all been sporting it. I love red highlights but I hate how quickly the colour fades so I am really excited to try L’Oreals Carmine red highlights which contains a patented formula to provide an intense red that doesn’t fade!

Sunsilk’s Seriously Silky Shampoo!

Sunsilk Damage Hair Reconstruction Shampoo – AED16
Sunsilk Damage Hair Reconstruction Conditioner – AED19

A few weeks ago I was doing make up for the models at a Sunsilk sponsored Fashion show at the Mall Of The Emirates, to be honest the brand had never been on my radar before then. It was a pretty hectic day so I didn’t really get the chance to learn about the products but when I was leaving I was given some of their shampoos. I just tried one and t really is amazing! Since I went Ombre the ends of my hair are super dry, my hairs actually completely stripped and it was literally breaking off at the ends where its just been completely bleached out so I was in desperate need of a rescue remedy. I have been using argan oil and leave in conditioners which I do regularly because my hair is pretty dry even in its normal state but this shampoo has literally transformed it! Its co-created byThomas Taw of London, founder of Bobsoho Salon, famous for resuscitating damaged hair. I used their most advanced Damaged Hair Reconstruction formulation to give back extreme smoothness and health to your damaged hair and my hair feels like its been restored, its actually silkier then before the bleach!

Tom shared a tip, “check if you have any damage by pulling out a single strand of hair and submerging it into a glass of water. If it floats, your hair is healthy; if it sinks, you are in need of some repair.” If it sinks ladies, you know what you need!

I find the most effective test is to hold your hair between your thumb and index finger at the roots, then slide your fingers downwards.

If the hair is healthy, when you repeat this, but moving your finger in the opposite direction, the feeling will be the same. If the hair is damaged, however, you will feel roughness or even hear a squeak, because the cuticles of the outer layer of the hair are broken, open, and raised.

The main thing to know is that an open and rough cuticle allows factors that threaten the health of the hair to easily pass through to the inner part of the hair fibres. The structure of healthy hair is characterized by an intact cuticle that tightly surrounds the cortex; when these are closer together, the hair is better protected from external damage.

They have a whole new range of 8 shampoos so find the one most suitable for you, these can be found at most supermarkets and are a fraction of the price of premium shampoos like L’oreal’s Kerastase, Goldwell and TIGI!

My Fashion Forward Statement Piece

My pearl encrusted “headpiece” attracted some attention at Fashion Forward today, people commented on it throughout the day, saying it was pretty, asking where its from and where I had it put in etc etc…It was actually just an old necklace that I wore in my hair, I placed it on the side  where my parting is and hid the chain at the back under my hair and kept in place with 2 hairgrips…

One of the regions leading designers, Rami Al Ali, said in a talk I attended that “Couture is the space to dream while pret is reality” dreaming in fashion keeps you away from the masses, it gives you a sense of identity while following trends just makes you one of the crowd.

Dare to dream! You don’t have to wear things the way you see them worn, if you think something looks good your probably right. I think its important to be expressive with your style, wear things because YOU like them not because you think others will! That way even if someone else doesn’t like what your wearing you wont care because YOU love it.

Having said that…I do hope my necklace headpieces catch on hahaha

Diary Extract – New York Performance Day 20/10/11

Hey!

So I woke up with this calmness lingering in the air which was soooooo scary for some reason. I didn’t like that my butterflies had fluttered away and everything was in place! I had no idea what I should be doing so me and my brother decided to go shopping and get some lunch. When we left the hotel I suddenly remembered I had lots of little things to get so it became a mad rush and it was raining hard so it was just horrible walking around.

We got back to the hotel at about 4pm leaving me 3 hours to get ready. I plugged in my hairdryer and straighteners into my converter and flicked the switch…nothing! No little flashing red light, no heat, no nothing….THEY WEREN’T WORKING!! So my phone charger, laptop and camera charger works here but the most important things don’t. Cue the butterflies, the butterflies were having a party in my stomach and I was running around trying to find a way, calling people, front desk ANYONE but it just wern’t happening. My hair is not my friend, it never does what I want it to even with my tools so what was I gonna do now? I just put some product in it and backcombed it so the wildness looked like it was supposed to be there….o gawdddd. All the press were gonna be there, CNN, Music channels..everyone important and I realised I will probably be known as “the girl with the bad hair”. All the fears suddenly surfaced, the negative thoughts just spiralled and I was asking myself whether people would just talk over me when I sang, whether I would fall because everyone kept telling me I shouldnt wear the 7 inch Kurt Geigers because of the safety hazard they pose, whether when I spoke to the audience they would react, whether they would boo me offstage, whether they would understand my English accent and I would get sent home like Cheryl Cole haha.

We walked into the venue and the press were taking pics of all these people on the red carpet, this woman stood there and the press went wild so I asked someone who she is and she was the owner of Calvin Klein apparantly…silly me..I thought that would be Calvin Klein lol. The bar was rammed, people were taking advantage of the open bar and I relaxed a little knowing that would probably work to my advantage because I imagined a sit down event where people were quiet and poised and that was scary to think I’d be singing and these people would just be deadly silent watching me. I was gonna finish the show after Pras and Wyclef, someone came up to me and said, “I heard Wyclefs opening for you” LOLLLLLLL he was supposed to hahahaa which I find hilarious but apparantly he had better things to do because he never showed up which was really disappointing but hey ho. So Pras showed his film and did a speech, his father passed away in the morning and he still came to support Haiti which I thought was really amazing. Then I was introduced by Ines Ferre from CNN and she explained that I’d come from London just for this event and everyone started cheering and were really welcoming. So I sang Who You Are by Jessie J and they all listened and swayed and I got them to sing the chorus with me. There’s a really long instrumental break so I spoke to them in that time asked if they were enjoying themselves and they went wild and reminded them why we’re here and that if we all contribute we can make Haiti a brighter place and they seemed really engaged which was great. Afterwards many people came up to me and said they really enjoyed it and I was SOOOOOOOOOO happy 🙂 I’m really glad I came here and I hope I get more amazing opportunities like this one. I had my moment on the red carpet, it was blinding and I was scared to step onto it coz they are all just standing in a line waiting but once I was there it was really fun haha I gave them a few twirls, I felt quite at home hahaha.

Thank You ALL for your support, messages and luck 🙂 I really appreciate it!!!!!

I’m off now, byeeeee xxx
