The Mascara, Sephora

20160225_085213-1They don’t just call it “The Mascara” by coincidence, the developer of this product explained when you have this mascara you don’t need to look for “The One” anymore because it takes care of all your needs. The formula gives definition while lengthening and giving your lashes a lift. If that wasn’t enough it guarantees 106% volume and length after 10 coats, and 195% more after 30 coats.

I could see the difference in volume, I took a picture wearing the mascara on just one eye so that you can see the difference and how it literally lifts my lashes to my brow! I am not one for falsies so I am really particular about my mascaras and I have to say this one is definitely a leader. I was completely in love with Givenchy’s Noir Couture but this one is taking the lead only because it does everything Noir Couture does but with a much nicer texture and formula that doesn’t cement to your lashes. Its more gummy therefore doesn’t flake and easy to clean off.

How does it do it?

  1. Ridges present in the bristles of the brush allow to properly grip the eyelashes to yield buildable results and a volume that intensifies with each coat.
  2. Thanks to its formula enriched with carnauba wax, it coats the lashes while being flexible.
  3. An acacia gum-based formula that secures and improves the resistance of mascara.

This mascara, all in one, offering intense volume, length and definition, and plus…it is long-lasting! That is why it is called THE Mascara.

It will be available in Sephora from March 1st and is priced at 95AED.

Max Factor Makeover

2015-10-24_09.46.23

I was heading out for coffee with friends and wanted a natural fresh faced look. I was feeling really tired and needed a real lift and I managed to achieve that using just four Max Factor products.

I began with the Max Factor Skin Illuminizer foundation, I put a little product under the eyes, along the forehead and down the nose and blended it outwards with a stippler brush so it was pretty natural but concentrated to the areas that really lift your face. Then I took the blusher and just blended it outwards from the apples towards the ear. I finished with 2 coats of mascara – one just wasn’t enough with my sleepy eyes. I finished with the rosy lipstick, I didn’t realise how much of a difference four products can make until I saw the pictures side by side!

Sephora Make-up Haul Tried and Tested

Yesterday I had a bit of a make-up haul in Sephora! I am always excited to get home and try my new goodies out and that is exactly what I did!!

I had never tried Marc Jacobs make-up before and the Make-up Forever HD concealer I use in shade 335 is always sold out so I decided to look for a new one. I have quite oily skin and had heard that the Marc Jacobs ReMarcable concealer is Oil free, instead it contains a special blend of soy protein, shea butter, and coconut extract. I loved the way it felt on my skin, I also use Bobbi Browns concealer and this one is similar but a lot lighter in texture, not as thick and creamy and great for building coverage. Recently my circles have gotten quite dark so I opted for the pot rather then the lighter coverage pen and I am really happy with it. Remember to always set your concealer with a powder to prevent cracks forming and try and carry a beauty blender to smooth it all back into place on a night out.

I absolutely love the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon too, the shade of black is really intense and when you first apply it you can smudge it for a smoky look but after it sets and it wont budge, exactly what you need in this humid weather! If you have oily skin its always better to finish with a little black eye-shadow on top to absorb any excess moisture and stop lines forming on your lid.

I have used Benefits Bad Gal mascara for years and I have tried Real Eyes but I just love the wand on Bad Gal, it thickens, lengthens lifts and separates which is all you need from a mascara.

I tried Sephora Extreme Liquid Lipstick in shade 10, it looks great but it dries very sticky and has a horrible texture. I managed to solve this problem by dabbing a creamy lipstick on top. My lip tip is to always use a liner to accentuate your cupids bow and then fill your lips in and really go as high as you can into your cupids bow to get that definition.

I picked up Sephora’s Pro Angled Liner Brush #22 Its great for liner but for this tutorial I used it to fill in my eyebrows. I also picked up a replacement Pro Angled Blush Brush #49. Mine had seen better days and I love the angle for contouring and the fluffiness to blend.

I definitely would re-stock on all of them except the sticky liquid lipstick! Feel free to leave your comments and questions.

A Glam 20 minute make-over

amby

I loved this makeover because Amber is such a girl next door character that it was fun to see her glammed up. Her daily make-up regime is a liquid liner and a little mascara and actually that is more then enough to make her look great. I wanted a look that would surprise her so I decided to open her eyes up by putting a dark shadow in the crease of her eye lid. I used a beige Givenchy liner inside her water line and a dark brown eye pencil under her lower lash line. This creates the illusion of bigger eyes and Amber had never tried it before but she loved it.

It is often difficult to find the best red lipstick to suit your skin tone and its just a case of experimenting, In winter I like deeper reds as I am less tanned which creates a nice contrast but in summer I can get away with more corals and orangey reds. Amber could pull of a bright red lipstick perfectly and as I had used light golden tones on her eyes, a bright lip didn’t overwhelm her face. I finished with some bronzer on her cheeks and a subtle contour down the centre of her nose.

Maybelline Beauty Box

A big thank you to Maybelline for my box of goodies! I have now tried and tested them all and I have to say I loved every item. The 14 hour Superstay lipstick in shade 065 Ravishing Rouge is a beautiful deep red that has a lot of staying power. The mascara is really volumising and defining and I loved the texture of the gel liner and the brush that comes with it is a great shape and size. You can use the brush on its side for a thin line or flat for a thicker eyeliner.

There was a really nice array of colours available in the color show nail laquer, they were great at first but sadly chipped within a day so you would have to use them with a really good top coat.

I would definitely re-purchase the eyeliner and have always been a fan of their lipsticks, I have many of the colour sensation range but really like the new 14hr more matte colours.
