There is nothing worse then going into the sun and humidity with a full face of make-up, that melted face look is never gonna be hot and it leads to open clogged pores which often results in breakouts. Zizzle has some summer solutions for you that will have your skin looking flawless and sunkissed!
Rather then a heavy foundation, use a toner to close your pores and then apply a BB cream on top of it, Maybellines Bronze BB is great with SPF 25 to keep your skin protected from those hot summer rays. Its fresh water base hydrates, refreshes and smooths your skin. Pure color pigments unify and warm the skin tone, covering imperfections. Plus, its SunGlow Complex with golden shimmer crystals gives your skin an instant bronzed glow effect that’s stunning. The result is pure sun-kissed, luminous perfection that’s flawlessly natural, in two beautiful tone-adjusting shades, Light-Medium and Medium-Deep.
You can finish this look by dusting Sun Bronzing Powder on the areas of your face that are naturally sun-kissed. Your forehead, centre of the nose, cheekbones and jawline. Powders are also great for controlling oiliness and humidity, they absorb excess moisture on the skin so if your feeling a little sweaty dust a little more on. It comes in two shades, choose one a shade darker then your skin-tone for a natural tan effect.
Corals, oranges and reds really set off tans but red lips are not the most attractive in the burning sun, instead opt for a SPF barely there lip-balm and try these fiery shades on your nails. Maybelline New York’s ColorShow Sweet and Spicy Polish collection has some really nice shades to choose from, Paprika Pop, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Cayenne have those hot hues to set your tan on fire.
Love this summery polish, paprika pop, by Maybelline. Many reds don’t suit my skin tone but this one is perfect for honey and caramel complexions, its a shade of red that is laced with a beautiful orange tone that really compliments tanned skin.
A big thank you to Maybelline for my box of goodies! I have now tried and tested them all and I have to say I loved every item. The 14 hour Superstay lipstick in shade 065 Ravishing Rouge is a beautiful deep red that has a lot of staying power. The mascara is really volumising and defining and I loved the texture of the gel liner and the brush that comes with it is a great shape and size. You can use the brush on its side for a thin line or flat for a thicker eyeliner.
There was a really nice array of colours available in the color show nail laquer, they were great at first but sadly chipped within a day so you would have to use them with a really good top coat.
I would definitely re-purchase the eyeliner and have always been a fan of their lipsticks, I have many of the colour sensation range but really like the new 14hr more matte colours.
Smoky eyes suit every single eye colour because they just add that intensity making your eyes look lighter or brighter. Sarah has beautiful brown eyes and you can see in the before and after how it really makes her eyes appear lighter and stand out. I create smoky eyes with layers of colour so I work with a dark urban decay eye palette with 3 or four shades of greys and blacks. I brushed all over her eyelid with a silvery grey then took a more granite colour and worked it into the creases of her eyes. I took a black and added it to the outer corners and worked it inwards in the crease of the eye not going too far in. Then I took a charcoal black and worked it along the outer lash-line and then blended everything in. I added some eye-shadow under the eye and smudged it a little then finished with quite a thick L’oreal liquid liner and lashings of Maybelline Mascara.
If you look at the previous makeover I did on Ruth you can see the difference with how high I took the eye-shadow, on Sarah I stayed around the crease of the eye and left the space under the eyebrow, you could make the look more dramatic if you went up a little higher but I think this was just enough. If you stayed below the crease this would become more of a casual look.
Smoky eyes really make your eyes the focal point of your face and you can literally mute the rest which is exactly what I did. I evened out her skin-tone with some Body Shop Mineralise Foundation, brightened under the eyes with a Pixi concealer to make them stand out that little more. Then I contoured her nose with Pixi’s neutralise palette, sculpted her cheekbones and finished with a nude Benefit lipstick. This is a great evening look!
I just bought my first coral lipstick! I love Maybellines Colour Sensational line, it’s moisturising and long lasting and the pigmentation is easy to build.
