Breakfast at Fume Dubai

I am one of those naughty people who regularly skips breakfast but how could I resist  the opportunity to sample fumes new breakfast menu!? I went to the branch in Pier 7 which overlooks the stunning Marina. I absolutely love the decor in there, it’s simple with a quirky retro twist. I particularly loved the light feature made from recycled wine bottles!

The breakfast menu is great, there is an array of hot breakfasts and you can also opt for something lighter such as muesli with yoghurt and fruit and various different bakery items. I went for the salmon with eggs and eggs which is scrambled eggs on toast with salmon topped with caviar. It also had an avocado spread on the toast which was delicious, I would definitely order it again.

I also had a taste of the shakshouka which is eggs baked in a tomato sauce served with toast. I found the tomato sauce to be a little overwhelming but it is a traditional Arabic breakfast dish and an acquired taste that many would probably enjoy.

We wanted a sweet ending so we had waffles with berries and chantilly cream, they were deliciously fluffy and the dish had the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

I will certainly be back at fume to satisfy my breakfast cravings, the ambience is great, the servers are friendly and attentive and the food is yummy!

The Re-opening of Zaman Awal

Al Boom Tourist Village has opened its doors with a new extension, Zaman Awal, it captures the true heritage of Dubai boasting the first commercial dhow to ever set sail down the Creek.

The venue is simply breathtaking, positioned creek-side, the views are unbelievable and so quiet compared to the creek by heritage village. The set-up is also great and I really enjoyed the calm, ambient setting. The first ever commercial Dhow to cruise down the creek, Al Aref, now sits proudly on the land and you can dine inside or explore the museum underneath it which has a collection of authentic artifacts.

The restaurant is huge and the walls are adorned with traditional relics making the place quirky yet authentic.  The chairman explained that most restaurants in Dubai cater to the tourists palette, however Zaman Awal makes dishes the way locals enjoy them. It is one of the few places I have visited in Dubai that has an air of nostalgia and reminds you of days gone by.

Mattar bin Lahej, a local artist that contributed to design elements of the venue said, “Al Boom Tourist Village spans over 6 hectares of land, with this premiere destination sitting in close proximity to the cultural landmarks, Dubai Creek, Wonderland and Garhoud Bridge whilst overlooking the modern architectural icon – The Burj Khalifa, worlds tallest building. In addition to its signature restaurant, the venue offers many other reasons for tourists and locals to visit. Each of these elements have been designed keeping in mind the true artifacts of an Emirati lifestyle and aims to take visitors back in time to the history of our land.

The Freej Village inspired by the famous cartoons has also opened which features the characters amongst heritage sites and retail spaces.

Mohammed Saeed Harib, creator of Freej cartoon. Another interesting addition to the venue is the Dara ship, also known as the Gulfs Titanic. Very few people in the region are aware about the history behind this ship, adding it to the venue will allow people to learn more about the travel history of Dubai. The Dara ship was used for travelling purposes along the Gulf countries and it carried from about 850 to 1000 people, the ship sank in the Persian Gulf in 1961 due to an explosion. Many rescued passengers were brought back to Dubai and were treated for injuries at Al Maktoum Hospital.

Dubai Women’s Association will set up a bazaar with merchandise, further enhancing the true cultural experience for all visitors. You can also take dhow cruises for dinner and touring around the Creek. Sailing in traditional boats is also offered at the venue, offering a full recreational experience for the entire family.

Emporio Armani Watches

The Emporio Armani Autumn/Holiday 2015 collection continues the brand’s journey into Innovative watch design. The designs are updated interpretations of classic pieces.

The ladies watches are minimal and sleek with men’s platforms interpreted into women’s versions.  The colour palette brings an Autumn freshness. Black and gold run throughout, giving the collection a glamorous look.

The new men’s styles feature a sporty, ultra-dynamic case. The powerful design, with the crown protector and separate bezel, allows to play with different colours and materials such as rubber and aluminium.

Shop the collection at Paris Gallery.

Iconic AW15 Fashion Trends

Zizzle went down to the Iconic AW15 Launch In Tribeca Dubai and we were really impressed with the new collection! There were a few key fashion trends spotted, a collection with something for everyone.

The Mod Modernism collection was very 60’s inspired, A-line dresses were scattered about in monochrome prints juxtaposed with midi skirts and tailored jackets in yellow and blue hues.

Another Iconic fashion trend this season is the Neo Sports look made up of day and sportswear with a luxe feel to it in bonded mesh, scuba and lasercuts. The metallic silver pieces gave a galactic feel to the 90’s inspired collection. I loved the Military Tribe trend pieces, olive green really suits caramel skintones and the military inspired jumpsuit was definitely my favourite piece of the collection. The Dark Delicacy pieces were extremely glamorous in rich lace and velvet with intricate beading to embellish. It was certainly the most lavish of trends.

This was my favourite collection from Iconic, it is so versatile and you can pick anything from edgy club-wear to elegant evening gowns. The tailored jackets and dresses were perfect for business chic and my wardrobe has quite a few new additions from the AW15 collection which I can’t wait to wear!

Summer Street Style

I really love these looks for summer, most of them are effortless and so chic when paired with heels and a clutch. This seasons must have for me is a nice hat, its amazing how much the right hat can add to an outfit and its always about the details for me. Chunky tribal jewellery and accessories paired with simple outfits is a win for me this season. Hope you can draw some inspiration for your summer wardrobe!

One Big Vibes

We went to One Big Vibes at The Hush Lounge on Emirates Golf Course, it was an amazing night with a really chilled vibe and the crowd were the movers and shakers of Dubai rather then the usual posers. Everyone was just out to have a good time and it had a real Festival vibe with a great line-up of House DJs headlined by Blondish. We used to frequent Electric Days before which is now Night Vibes, a series of great outdoor nights. The next one is at the Tamanya Terrace ‘tent’ @ Radisson Blu in Dubai Media City on the 31st July. It will be headlined by Tala, get on the guestlist by emailing info@vibeseries.com

An AMAZING video of Dubai

This video is simply GENIUS and was shot over three months by British-based urban film-maker Rob Whitworth, the three-minute short takes the viewer through the most incredible time-lapse. It showcases Dubai’s modernism while showing you  the old-town and desert activities.

Whitworth himself says: “My first impression of Dubai was that of super-tall buildings jutting out of the desert sand. However, after three months of exploration, research and filming, my lasting impression is of the eternal wonder of the desert and the importance it holds for the Emirati people.”

“Dubai may be home to the world’s most outrageous skyline but Dubai’s desert dunes and historical creek are where you’ll find its soul.”
