Zohra and Rita Remark
Comfy In Cotton
The launch of Essie’s Cashmere collection at the Belle Femme Salon was amazing, the colours were so on point for Autumn. It’s satin-matte finish blends a durable Essie polish with a mattifying iridescence for a supersoft effect that is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s a creative alternative to classic gloss for a very chic look. Nails take on the appearance of a matte surface with a subtle flash of colour for a texture that‘s never been seen before. I opted for the shade Comfy in Cashmere which I loved so much I brought it home with me!
I really enjoyed chatting to Rita Remark, the Global Lead Educator dictates which trends will appear at New York Fashion Week and got me up to speed. She said subtle colours are in with cut-out or block patterns, for example a Nude with a triangle left unpainted, “it’s just all really super simple and all about negative space”
Rita brings a wonderful combination of energetic charisma along with an easy, accessible approach. Her polished expertise has earned her a place in the spotlight since 2011, when her early editorial work led her to become essie’s Lead Nail Artist in Toronto. In this role, Rita oversaw the development of the most anticipated and innovative nail designs on the runways at Toronto Fashion Week. From there, it was only upwards and onwards for Rita as she went on to be part of essie’s Global Team for New York Fashion Week, lending her dazzling artistry and ideas to the event. Now, as Essie’s Global Lead Educator, with an impressive portfolio as well as a finger on the pulse of the latest trends, she drives professional training on brand launches around the world.
The Essie Cashmere collection is available from this week in salons such as Belle Femme Dubai and Essie retailers in the region.
I had a great day trying out Essie’s new Silk Watercolor Collection. To mark the launch of the highly anticipated polishes, the talented nail artists at SoH Art + Beauty came together to create an exclusive range of 18 unique nail art designs. I was spoilt for choice and ended up choosing two in the end because I just couldn’t decide.
The colours are sheer and capture the delicacy of silk and chiffon, nine layerable shades offer so many possibilities and I was so excited to get home and play with mine! From the fierce ultra violet of No Shrinking Violet to the glowing rose of Love Sheen, the chic graphic teal of Pen & Inky to the seductive citrus vibe of Muse, Myself and other stunning shades, the exciting new collection added tones of gorgeousness to a well –received gathering of art and style.
There is nothing worse then going into the sun and humidity with a full face of make-up, that melted face look is never gonna be hot and it leads to open clogged pores which often results in breakouts. Zizzle has some summer solutions for you that will have your skin looking flawless and sunkissed!
Rather then a heavy foundation, use a toner to close your pores and then apply a BB cream on top of it, Maybellines Bronze BB is great with SPF 25 to keep your skin protected from those hot summer rays. Its fresh water base hydrates, refreshes and smooths your skin. Pure color pigments unify and warm the skin tone, covering imperfections. Plus, its SunGlow Complex with golden shimmer crystals gives your skin an instant bronzed glow effect that’s stunning. The result is pure sun-kissed, luminous perfection that’s flawlessly natural, in two beautiful tone-adjusting shades, Light-Medium and Medium-Deep.
You can finish this look by dusting Sun Bronzing Powder on the areas of your face that are naturally sun-kissed. Your forehead, centre of the nose, cheekbones and jawline. Powders are also great for controlling oiliness and humidity, they absorb excess moisture on the skin so if your feeling a little sweaty dust a little more on. It comes in two shades, choose one a shade darker then your skin-tone for a natural tan effect.
Corals, oranges and reds really set off tans but red lips are not the most attractive in the burning sun, instead opt for a SPF barely there lip-balm and try these fiery shades on your nails. Maybelline New York’s ColorShow Sweet and Spicy Polish collection has some really nice shades to choose from, Paprika Pop, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Cayenne have those hot hues to set your tan on fire.
Love this summery polish, paprika pop, by Maybelline. Many reds don’t suit my skin tone but this one is perfect for honey and caramel complexions, its a shade of red that is laced with a beautiful orange tone that really compliments tanned skin.

I have scoured Instagram and various blogs to bring you my favourite Valentines day nails! Some are more challenging then others but I am sure you will find a look that you can recreate.
A big thank you to Maybelline for my box of goodies! I have now tried and tested them all and I have to say I loved every item. The 14 hour Superstay lipstick in shade 065 Ravishing Rouge is a beautiful deep red that has a lot of staying power. The mascara is really volumising and defining and I loved the texture of the gel liner and the brush that comes with it is a great shape and size. You can use the brush on its side for a thin line or flat for a thicker eyeliner.
There was a really nice array of colours available in the color show nail laquer, they were great at first but sadly chipped within a day so you would have to use them with a really good top coat.
I would definitely re-purchase the eyeliner and have always been a fan of their lipsticks, I have many of the colour sensation range but really like the new 14hr more matte colours.
I follow a blog called The Nail Luxxe and she posted a similar look yesterday (Click Here) so I was feeling inspired and decided to just change the base colour to this minty green. I love this colour, its nice and cool in this hot Dubai summer and I love how she made her silver tips a really thin line rather then a full french tip. There’s so many inspiring nail looks online, why not find some inspiration and play around with colour?!
I keep seeing all these amazing nail designs on Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest. Some people use nails like a teeny canvas and its amazing how much detail they can get on there! These are some of my favourite designs, most are difficult to copy but u can take inspiration from them and some are simple yet effective 🙂
