Vichy Ideal Soleil, Dry Oil

Ideal Soleil dry oil PR

Vichy’s dry oil was perfect for my trip to Madrid, the 40 degree sun was hot and I definitely needed the long-wave UVA protection that Vichys formulation includes. It eliminates 75% of all UV leading to a luminous tan and softer and smoother skin. Never underestimate sun protection, going into the sun without it increases the risk of cancer and prematurely ages the skin so always make sure you have yours on.

I love spray bottles, they are so much easier and quicker to apply and I like how the formula is light and not sticky or oily. The oil fast absorbs into your skin leaving you with a glowing complexion and it has a pleasant fragrance. I have always opted for oil over cream and Vichy’s is not thick or hard work to rub in as others I have used in the past. Oil is reflective and tans you much faster and evenly, this product is definitely going to become a staple in my beach bag.

Summer Street Style

I really love these looks for summer, most of them are effortless and so chic when paired with heels and a clutch. This seasons must have for me is a nice hat, its amazing how much the right hat can add to an outfit and its always about the details for me. Chunky tribal jewellery and accessories paired with simple outfits is a win for me this season. Hope you can draw some inspiration for your summer wardrobe!

A Glam 20 minute make-over

I loved this makeover because Amber is such a girl next door character that it was fun to see her glammed up. Her daily make-up regime is a liquid liner and a little mascara and actually that is more then enough to make her look great. I wanted a look that would surprise her so I decided to open her eyes up by putting a dark shadow in the crease of her eye lid. I used a beige Givenchy liner inside her water line and a dark brown eye pencil under her lower lash line. This creates the illusion of bigger eyes and Amber had never tried it before but she loved it.

It is often difficult to find the best red lipstick to suit your skin tone and its just a case of experimenting, In winter I like deeper reds as I am less tanned which creates a nice contrast but in summer I can get away with more corals and orangey reds. Amber could pull of a bright red lipstick perfectly and as I had used light golden tones on her eyes, a bright lip didn’t overwhelm her face. I finished with some bronzer on her cheeks and a subtle contour down the centre of her nose.

Ruth’s Summery Look

Ruth explained that she normally uses a darker palette on her eyes, I could understand why as that would really bring out her gorgeous green eyes. Darker shades are great for evenings but I wanted to do something different, since we were going to a pool party/BBQ I thought it would be nice to do a bronzed look and then add some colour to her usual eye palette. I used a Sleek Palette and blended copper with turquoise on her eyelid and then took a brown eye-shadow up to her brow bone. When you have smaller eye-lids you can wear your eye-shadow really high, it gives you the illusion of bigger eyes. I have bigger eye-lids so if I did that I would end up looking like a drag queen. I only ever wear high eye-shadow for costume parties or if I need an OTT look. Its really important to recognize your features and work to enhance them, I’ve seen people try to copy a beautiful make-up look and it just looks terrible because they didn’t consider how to adapt things to suit there features.

I highlighted under Ruth’s brow and used an eyebrow pencil to add more definition, then I finished with a metallic turquoise liner under the eyes and two coats of Benefit Bad Gal mascara. I added a MAC bronzer and a little Inglot coral blush and highlighted on her cheek-bones and nose. I finished with a Lancome coral lip-gloss, I thought it was perfect for the summery look I was going for and it really suited her.

Summer Lips

I generally always have quite muted colours on my lips, nudes and natural peaches, but in summer
I think vibrant lips really complete that bronzed holiday look. Bronzed complexions look great even with nude lips but I just think hot pinks and corals are pretty for the summer.

Today I went really bright!! I used an Annabelle fuchsia lipliner, I coloured in the whole lip as liners are a great base to keep lipstick on longer. Because liners are quite dry they stain the lip better and then the lipstick you apply on top bonds to the liner keeping that on too! (Givenchy lip liners are my favourite, they’re nice and creamy and stay on all day. However, despite me having every shade, they don’t have a fuchsia like Annabelle’s) I applied The Body Shop’s shade 69 on top of the liner and then just dotted on some M.A.C Cremesheen glass in Galaxy Rose and rubbed my lips together. Gloss adds another dimension giving your lips more fullness and leaves them looking hydrated.

In Winter I wear more gloss but in Summer I find it quite sticky, you don’t want too much shine so I just dot a little on.

Zuhair Murad Spring/Summer Highlights

This Lebanese visionary came onto my radar thanks to Gossip Girl – there were a few dresses I liked so I googled them to see who designed them and they were all him! Since then I’ve noticed at various awards shows I will pick out a dress I like (Catherine Zeta Jones at the Oscars) and it will be his. His attention to detail is immaculate and the lace details and embellishments are what transform his dresses into works of art, here are some of my favourite ready to wear looks for next season:
